Diamond International School
Making an IB World class education accessible for everyone
Diamond International School
Our Story
Diamond International School was founded in 2019 and is located in Donghanghin Village near the Lao National Stadium. The school was established with the aim of creating a better form of education in Laos. DIS uses the curriculum of the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP program and will continue as a comprehensive IB school offering MYP and DP programs (Nursery thru high school).

Our Curriculum
An IB education is highly valued for its emphasis on critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, which are essential in today's constantly evolving world. Students are encouraged to think independently, question assumptions, and develop their own unique perspectives. The program is internationally recognized and respected, which opens up a wide range of opportunities for students both in terms of higher education and career prospects. Students who complete the program are well-equipped to succeed in a globalized world and are often sought after by leading universities and employers.
The school places a strong emphasis on empathy, social responsibility, and community service, which helps to develop well-rounded individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in the world.
On average, International Baccalaureate (IB) students have an 18% higher chance of getting accepted into Ivy League Universities and a 22% higher chance of getting into top-ranked universities around the world.
The IB PYP
Concept-Based
Inquiry Driven
The PYP is designed for students ages 3 - 12, and offers a comprehensive, inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. It provides an internationally designed model and incorporates guidelines on student learning styles, teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies.

The curriculum framework is further structured around three interrelated questions:
-
What do we want to learn? (the written curriculum)
-
How best will we learn? (the taught curriculum)
-
How will we know what we have learned? (the learned curriculum)
The PYP is organized
into six globally significant themes.
The PYP has six transdisciplinary themes that students investigate throughout the school year. These themes are globally significant and support the acquisition of concepts that are interconnected. The themes can be addressed in all subject areas, and can be applied to real life. They capture human commonalities that are significant and relevant across cultures, geographic regions, and student learning stages.
»Who we are
»Where we are in place and time
»How we express ourselves
»How the world works
»How we organize ourselves
»Sharing the planet
IB PYP Subjects
The five essential elements for successful lifelong learning are knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action. These elements support the PYP's curriculum framework and aim to help students develop a deeper understanding, critical thinking skills, and the ability to transfer their learning to all six subject areas. We also encourage other languages, such as Lao, Thai, Hmong, and Chinese, to help support student understanding.
